R/MAME RULES/REGULATIONS REDDIT'S ARCADE COMMUNITY Over time, MAME (originally stood for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) absorbed the sister-project MESS (Multi Emulator Super System), so MAME now documents a wide variety of (mostly vintage) computers, video game consoles and calculators, in addition to the arcade video games that were its initial focus. The fact that the software is usable serves primarily to validate the accuracy of the documentation (how else can you prove that you have recreated the hardware faithfully?). The source code to MAME serves as this documentation. This is achieved by documenting the hardware and how it functions. This resets high scores, credits/winnings, statistics, and/or operator settings on. As electronic technology continues to rush forward, MAME prevents this important "vintage" software from being lost and forgotten. Scroll Lock/Forward Delete (Mac Desktop)/fn-Delete (Mac Laptop). I also tried updating the directory configuration to both "/Library/Application Support/mame" and "/Applications/mame0199b_macOS/plugins/hiscore". I though that perhaps, MAME needed some directory configuration so I pointed the INIs folders to both the "/Library/Application Support/mame" and "/Applications/mame0199b_macOS/ini" but I still get the same "Error loading plug.ini" message That is consistent with the fact that if I click on the "Plugins" menu option after I load MAME 64, the window is empty so MAME is not reading any of the plugins including hiscore. Unfortunately, when I start mame 64, I still get the following error: In the mame.ini file, I changed the value for the plugin variable to "1" per some tutorial online and added "hiscore" to the plugin variable: Under mame0199b_macOS -> ini, I only have one folder called "presets" I have the files below but nothing relevant to plugins or hiscore:Īfter a lot of research, I found a mame.init and a plugin.init in /Library/Application Support/mame/ which contains the following files: If the game has save state support (and you have this turned on) the high scores are saved this way. Under mame0199b_macOS -> plugins -> hiscore, I have the following files: Games can save high scores 2 ways (without the addition of the hiscore support) 1) If the game HAD the ability to save high scores if the game was turned off (at the arcade), MAME saves the high scores in the nvram file. Note that I have already downloaded the hiscore.dat file and updated the mame.ini file. Could anybody please walk me through the process? I am sure I am missing something obvious so I appreciate any help in advance. I have found tutorials/videos online but they are tailored for PC versions of MAME not for MacOS. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out how to save high scores in MAME0199b for macOS with no success.
